| Summary, etc. | El de este libro, esta orientado a todos los estudiantes de geología e ingeniería civil, limitan forzosamente su contenido y a ello hay que unir la existencia de otra asignatura, mecánica del suelo y geotecnia, que se imparte en el segundo cuatrimestre, como continuación del libro geologia aplicada.<br/><br/>con el paso del tiempo la importancia que se le ha dado a la influencia que tiene el terreno sobre el proyecto y construcción de una estructura no ha hecho sino crecer, de tal manera que de no incluir dato sobre las características de los materiales en los que se ha de cimentar, su estructura y discontinuidades se ha pasado a dedicar una parte apreciable del costo de los proyectos a la investigación del terreno.<br/><br/>El convencimiento de que los recursos empleados en tal menester tenían un rendimiento evidente ha hecho que sea una exigencia del proyectista y el constructor, el conocer lo mejor posible los materiales que va a utilizar |
