El incremento artificial del GEI en la atmósfera se viene produciendo desde los inicios del siglo XX. Entre las causas principales destacan la activad industrial, el transporte, la producción energética (que emplea combustibles fósiles), ciertas actividades agrícolas y la destrucción de los bosques. Con estas actividades se esta sometiendo a la tierra un proceso de calentamiento atmosférico inducido que, a su vez esta derivando a un cambio climático. Este se manifiestan cambios en las condiciones regulares del clima (temperatura, lluvias, humedad, vientos), es un incremento de la variabilidad climática natural y en una mayor frecuencia e intensidad de los eventos climáticos extremos. |
