| Summary, etc. | En el presente manual, el estudiante de agronomia y el técnico agrícola podrán consultar información básica acerca de la familia de las cucurbitaceas. Estos cultivos se realizan generalmente en huertos, aunque también se producen en grandes extensiones de terreno. Entre los cultivos mas importantes utilizados para el consumo humano se halla la calabaza, calabacita, chilacayote, pepino, melón y sandia, por su afinidad en requisitos generales de suelo, clima, época de siembra, fertilización y otras practicas culturales. Por su importancia principal en América Latina, se incluye también el cultivo del chayote. |
