| Summary, etc. | Este libro se distingue de los demás manuales de microeconomía de tres formas fundamentales: Primera: Introduce ejemplos del mundo real "sin artilugios" a lo largo de la exposición, además de ofrecer amplias aplicaciones. Segunda: Pone un mayor énfasis que los demás manuales en las teorías modernas (como las teorías de la organización industrial, la teoría de juegos, la teoría de los costes de transacción, la teoría de la información y la teoría de los contratos) que resultan útiles para actualizar los mercados reales. Tercera: Aplica un planteamiento paso a paso para demostrar cómo se utilizan la teorías microeconómicas para resolver problemas y analizar cuestiones políticas. La primera mitad del libro (Capítulos 1-10) analiza los mercados competitivos y demuestra que la competencia tiene propiedades muy deseables. La segunda mitad (Capítulos 11-20) se centra en los mercados de competencia imperfecta, donde las empresas tienen poder de mercado, las empresas y los consumidores no tienen certeza sobre el futuro y poseen información limitada, y existen externalidades y bienes públicos. Este libro se diferencia de otros manuales de microeconomía porque utiliza la teoría de juegos a lo largo de toda la segunda parte, en lugar de aislar el tema en un único capítulo |
