| Summary, etc. | Este libro estudia el desarrollo de la región central d la sierra peruana, un espacio marcado tanto por la presencia de importantes asientos mineros, cuanto por su relativa proximidad a la capital de la república. la inversión combino el análisis de fuentes históricas, con prolongados periodos de trabajo de campo en varios pueblos del valle de Mantaro y la ciudad de Huancayo. Los profundos efectos d ela economía minera (cuyas principales empresas han sido mayormente compañías extranjeras) sobre la sociedad local so enfocados desde el periodo colonial mostrando así han contribuido al dualismo económico presente en la región a través de una extensa red de empresas pequeñas e informales. En el libro también se examinan las consecuencias políticas del proceso de desarrollo acontecido, manifestaciones en la debilidad de los grupos de interés regional y en la dificultad para definir políticas contemporáneas para el desarrollo regional. |
