Summary, etc.	Con una sabia combinación de teoría y práctica, esta obra analiza las «creencias» que afloran en la resolución de problemas de matemáticas y reivindica su importancia educativa para conseguir un objetivo: aprender a pensar; porque, aunque el pensar no sea patrimonio exclusivo de ninguna ciencia, la matemática es una materia idónea para ejercitarse en ese arte y tratar de mejorarlo.<br/>El método basado en la resolución de problemas estimula al alumnado a abordar situaciones nuevas, a responder a cuestiones de las que no conoce una respuesta mecánica, a elaborar estrategias de pensamiento, a plantearse preguntas y a aplicar sus conocimientos y destrezas a otras situaciones. Para conseguirlo, es necesario que en el aula se respire un clima estimulante que precisa de unas determinadas actitudes y creencias.<br/> Los capítulos de este libro responden a preguntas como las siguientes: ¿Pensar en clase de matemáticas? ¿En qué consiste realmente el saber resolver problemas? ¿Qué son las creencias? ¿Cuáles son las más comunes entre los estudiantes? ¿Cómo diagnosticar y evaluar los sistemas de creencias del alumnado? ¿Cómo modificarlas? Por último se exponen propuestas de intervención en el aula.
