| Summary, etc. | Terapeuta educativa dedicada al diagnóstico y tratamiento de niños con problemas de aprendizaje, Betty Osman estudia los efectos que se originan cuando este proceso resulta difícil para el educando. La autora centra su atención en las tres áreas más importantes en la vida del niño: el hogar, la escuela y el ambiente social, e ilustra sus puntos de vista con casos clínicos reales.<br/><br/>Asimismo, analiza la forma como los padres y los profesionales en educación pueden ayudar a los niños que padecen esta-problemática. Por lo que toca al hogar, Osman muestra la forma de detectar anomalías en el aprendizaje y ofrece consejos prácticos a los padres para mantener la armonía. Respecto a la escuela, considera muy importante la cooperación entre padres y maestros, y examina los puntos que más preocupan a aquéllos, como son la reprobación y las tareas.<br/><br/>Por lo que se refiere a las situaciones sociales, la autora orienta al lector acerca de cómo ayudar a los niños a entablar y mantener buenas relaciones con sus hermanos y compañeros de clase; además, prevé el futuro del niño al analizar sus expectativas en la enseñanza superior. Cuando un niño es feliz, señala Betty Osman, sus padres cosechan satisfacciones; por tanto, esta obra se basa en una premisa: la aceptación y el entendimiento de nuestros hijos, al igual que la habilidad para ayudarlos, provienen de la información y el discernimiento de que dispongamos. |
