Antología del Costumbrismo en el Perú, precedida de una breve reseña, donde se examina los antecedentes y las circunstancias (la independencia del país) en que nace este género literario, y pasa revista a sus principales representantes. El costumbrismo ha sido visto, como un esfuerzo por reconocer y describir la realidad del país, después de creadas las repúblicas hispanoamericanas. En realidad, es el primer intento de autoidentificación regional y nacional. "Se podría decir que esta literatura es la expresión de la naciente burguesía rural y urbana, el testimonio de su esfuerzo por comprender su entorno cultural". O, como anota Carlos Mansivais, es el "molde imprescindible para averiguar nuestra identidad" . Más que por su valor literario, interesa por su significación histórica y social. <br/> |
